OK here's a more realistic music-sized piece of storage from G-Technology by Hitachi.
At CES, we will launch the new G-RAID with Thunderbolt. At 8TB it is the highest capacity, two-drive, RAID 0 external storage device in the world and has the fastest interface you can find with data transfer rates up to 10 Gbps. This drive has set a new standard for storage speed, backed by Intel and already named a 2012 CES Innovations Award Honoree. Thunderbolt is going to be everyone soon and G-Technology by Hitachi is leading the charge.

During the course of my video interview with Scott Wilkinson of Home Theater, a viewer asked a question regarding Async USB DACs and uncompressed FLAC playback and I did not have a good answer. So I did some research. And I still did not come up with a compelling answer. So I sent off an email to Gordon Rankin of Wavelength Audio since he was the first to implement the Async USB mode in a consumer audio DAC and he's done some listening tests comparing FLAC to WAV files. Iceland's Ólafur Arnalds is a multi-instrumentalist and composer and in October 2011 he sat down for his second series of 'a-song-a-day' for a week. His first foray in this format was Found Songs from 2009. This time around Arnalds and a group of musicians (piano, strings and electronics) performed a new song-a-day live via streaming video from the living room of his Reykjavík apartment. Arnalds also made each song available as a free MP3 download immediately after each performance.

Among the businesses hardest hit were hard drive manufacturers including Western Digital, Hitachi and Toshiba as well as many smaller companies who produce parts for hard drives.

dBpoweramp CD Ripper & Music Converter Reference R14 ($38 Windows-only) from Illustrate has added an "Uncompressed" option to its bag of FLAC encoding tricks with release 14.1. So what's the big deal?
FLAC encoder wording changed, also includes a FLAC Uncompressed encoding option (which stores audio uncompressed, for those who want WAVE PCM but with better ID Tagging).
