RMAF 2014: The Wrap

Fun. Listening to music. Fun. What more do we have to ask of this wonderful hobby of ours? Listening to music is not only fun but it's a damn lovely and fortunate way to spend time. We are truly privileged to take part in such a hobby. That said, let me complain...

I understand its difficult to play music that doesn't offend or drive people from your room. I do. But is it so difficult that only a handful of songs will do? I don't think so and there a few people who seem to consistently get that.

My friend, that's a disclosure, John DeVore of DeVore Fidelity gets that and one later night session listening to the Temptations "Papa Was A Rolling Stone", Donny Hathaway, Syretta Wright, and Sandy Bull drove the piont home and then some.

Jeff Catalano of High Water Sound gets it too in spades. While Jeff typically only spins vinyl, I make it a point to stop in and say hello and if time permits listen to some of the lovely music he has up his sleeve.

And finally VTL and Wilson always manage to make lovely music usually with some recordings from Wilson's Peter McGrath.

This year at RMAF 2014 I tried to focus on the new products that fall into our world of computer audio. While I did manage to find a few, I'm certain I missed a few too. RMAF is a dauntingly large show and really too big for one person to cover so let me apologize to all those manufacturer's I missed. I'd also like to thank Marjorie Baumert and her staff for making RMAF 2014 another success.

If you ask me what I'm most excited about, it would be the Tidal streaming service. I look forward to giving it a try and spending time rummaging around their million album library. Fun.
