Resonessence Labs

The diminutive (I'd say we're looking at a trend) Resonessence Labs Herus USB Headphone DAC ($350) made its official debut at RMAF 2013. Offering "...over 100dB of SNR" according to the company, the Herus supports DXD and 2x DSD and "...is capable of driving 2.4V RMS, (ie 6.8V pk-to-pk) into headphones from 600 Ohms to 32 Ohms". My previous experience with the Resonessence Invicta (see review) and the Concero HD (see review) would suggest that the Herus is worth a serious listen.

Also on display and in use was Resonessence's top-of-the-line Mirus ($4,995) which replaces the Invicta's headphone section with another ESS Sabre DAC ES9018 making for a dual DAC design and improved sound quality. The Mirus supports DXD and 2x DSD and offers the same ins and outs as the Invicta including the front-mounted SD Card reader.
