Resonessence Labs

The diminutive (I'd say we're looking at a trend) Resonessence Labs Herus USB Headphone DAC ($350) made its official debut at RMAF 2013. Offering "...over 100dB of SNR" according to the company, the Herus supports DXD and 2x DSD and " capable of driving 2.4V RMS, (ie 6.8V pk-to-pk) into headphones from 600 Ohms to 32 Ohms". My previous experience with the Resonessence Invicta (see review) and the Concero HD (see review) would suggest that the Herus is worth a serious listen.

Also on display and in use was Resonessence's top-of-the-line Mirus ($4,995) which replaces the Invicta's headphone section with another ESS Sabre DAC ES9018 making for a dual DAC design and improved sound quality. The Mirus supports DXD and 2x DSD and offers the same ins and outs as the Invicta including the front-mounted SD Card reader.
