New (to me) at The New York Audio Show: CanEVER Audio ZeroUno DAC

New to me, because I somehow missed it at RMAF, is the ZeroUno DAC ($7,995) from Italy's CanEVER Audio. Based on a "... proprietary implementation of special developed firmware" for the ESS SABRE32 ES9018S DAC chip, ZeroUno employs a pair of 6SN7/CV181 tubes in its Class-A analog output stage.

ZeroUno supports PCM resolutions up to 32/384 and DSD to DSD128 via XMOS-based USB, while the S/PDIF inputs max out at 24/192 (AES/Coax) and 24/96 (Toslink). I would suggest that whenever we see tubes sticking out of a DAC, the bigger the better, we have been trained to think warm. We shall see! The ZeroUno was sitting silently on the bottom shelf of a rack in the Sound by Singer room so I nearly missed it again.

More NY Audio Show coverage coming on Tuesday (time to watch the NY Giants...win?).

Great game by the Gmen. Glad to see Sterling have another solid game as he's from my school and there's a connection (long story). I know the show was small and a few folks ended up not attending at the last second, but that give time to hear about smaller companies products. Thanks.
