Meridian 210 Network Streamer Launched

In what has become a crowded digital network-streamer marketplace, a new product launch can struggle for recognition as it can be difficult to break through the signal-to-noise ratio. Less so if you’re Meridian Audio, whose award-winning and pioneering CD, DAC and DSP engineering designs are the stuff of legend in the audiophile world and were in no small part integral to the digital infrastructure that we find ourselves enmeshed in now.

The Roon Ready Meridian 210 Streamer offers UPnP connectivity via aptX HD Bluetooth, Ethernet and dual-band wi-fi with USB-A connectivity allowing the device to also be a UPnP server with built-in support for up to 24-bit/96kHz PCM and of course MQA, which Meridian cofounder Bob Stuart is a tireless champion of. A SpeakerLink output enables connectivity for Meridian systems and a Digital Aux output allows the 210 to feed third-party DACs.

Unit settings are configured via the Meridian Control App for iOS and Android with the ability to “synchronize the volume controls of Bluetooth devices, playback apps, the Meridian system and third-party control across the system.” A neat trick to keep listening levels in-line regardless if you’re using Roon, Spotify, TIDAL or the Meridan App.

Competition for dCS Network Bridge :-) ...........

The Meridian 218 already supported Roon streaming and had digital inputs as well (both coax and optical). The new, more expensive 210 loses these inputs, and adds Airplay, Spotify Connect, and Bluetooth AptXHD - which is not usable with Apple products (they could have gone with the AAC codec which is usable by all). MQA is supported in both. Huh?
