Lovely Recordings Hosted by Ralf Alaniz

Thank you for considering my list for your website.

Benoit Delbecq 3: Ink (Clean Feed Records, 2014)
This was my first download on Tidal and I haven’t looked back (digital).

Available from Tidal

Julieta Venegas: MTV Unplugged (Sony International, 2008)
She is a multi-instrumentalist and singer. Genius when you can make an accordion a pop instrument.

Available from Tidal

Robert Glasper: Double Booked (Blue Note, 2009)
Like me he’s a "Texas Kid" and the second half of this album is electric.

Available from Qobuz

Oddissee: The Odd Tape (Mellow Music Group, 2016)
My son has a t-shirt that says "Drop Beats NOT Bombs" and I think of this album when I see him wearing it.

Available from Bandcamp

Frank Ocean: Blonde (Boys Don't Cry, 2016)
I love it when people say that today’s music sucks… they haven’t heard this album.

Available from Tidal

Gregory Porter: Liquid Spirit (Blue Note, 2013)
He makes my wife cry.

Available from HDtracks

Roy Hargrove: Earfood (Universal Music LLC, 2008)
He is in my opinion our Miles Davis and he’s a "Texas Kid".

Available from Tidal

Sales: Sales EP (SALES, 2014)
My son introduced me to them and I absolutely love her (Lauren Morgan's) voice.

Available from Tidal

BADBADNOTGOOD: III (Innovative Leisure, 2014)
I have been waiting for them for a long time and they are finally here… rejoice.

Available from Bandcamp

Goldfrapp: Felt Mountain (Mute Records, 2000)
When my daughter plays DJ on Saturday mornings we always get some Goldfrapp.

Available from Tidal

My name is Ralf I’m 44 and I'm a "Texas Kid".

Looks intriguing - a lot here I've never heard. Streaming Benoit Delbecq 3: Ink right now on Tidal; so far so good! Looking forward to exploring these new sounds, thx!

Great art can give a glimpse of the future. Mr. Ocean's vocals are clearly pointing the way. His lyrics were written in days gone by but his art will stay forever. And like my writemyessay colleague would say, A man can definitely sing!

Hi Ralf - lots of new (to me) albums to check out - thanks! I've already listened to Earfood and love it.

I dig the way music goes down at your house, certainly some favs of mine in your picks. I will give Frank O another shot based on your suggestion here.

Agree on the talent of Hargrove, but I strongly suggest you give Ambrose Akinmusire a listen if you do not know his music. When the Heart Emerges Glistening and The Imagined Saint are both pretty special. The song Conversations to My Unborn Daughter is next level!
