Lovely Recordings Hosted by Stan Schwab

I really like this column and will be auditioning all of these lovely recordings.

Respighi: Church Windows; Poema Autunnale, Ruggiero Ricci / Pacific Symphony Orchestra / Keith Clark (Reference Recordings, 1993)
While I have many lovely recordings among my 330 CDs, if I had to pick one that is truly spectacular, it would be this one. I never tire of hearing its majestic sound.

Available from HDtracks.

Thank you for calling out this recording and this wonderful work. It does not get mentioned as often as it should. The Clark/Pacific Symphony recording on Reference Recordings is an impressive sonic work and a great performance (IMHO). Others I have picked up that are well worth listening and should be on the shelves of anyone who loves to hear this Respighi masterpiece are;

Philadelphia Orchestra/Ormandy on Sony Classical/Essential Classics

Cincinnati Symphony/Lopez-Cabos on Telarc Digital

Buffalo Philharmonic/Faletta on Naxos

Philharmonia Orchestra/Simon on Chandos

Rome Symphony/La Vecchia on Brilliant Classics

and as referenced above;

Pacific Symphony/Clark
