High End Munich: Into the Light with Lumin

The Lumin Music room was a delight to my eyes as well as my ears. Everything in the room, including the sound, was light and bright – clean and open.

Their system was simple, and featured the elegant minimalist-looking Lumin X1 streaming DAC which costs €12,999, driving the 160W-8Ω class-AB stereo Lumin Amp which uses no global (only nested) feedback and costs €12,990.

As you can see in the topmost photo, the two Lumin stereo amps were used in bridged mono. The sleek curved-front Amps powered the €23,000 Vimberg Mino floor-standing loudspeakers. The Mino’s black drivers looked stark in such a white and silver environment; but, they delivered a well-articulated sound. To my ears, this system sounded exactly like it looked.

The Lumin X1 is built around the ES9038PRO Sabre DAC; which give users the full menu of digital services: MQA and DSD 512512 22.6MHz; PCM 44.1-768kHz, 16-32 bit; plus, FLAC, WAV, and AIFF files; plus, native support for TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify and AirPlay.
