Download of the Week: David Bowie

We all know we're going to die. Most of us just don't know when. For those that do, and for those who imagine they will, change from the everyday is the order of the day. David Bowie was a beautiful soul, there are lots of them, but he was also a luminous soul of which there are not so many. We are fortunate to bath in the light of such luminous souls.

Blackstar is the beautiful and knowing parting gift from a man who fell to earth and helped change the face of it. RIP.

You can get the 24/96 download of Blackstar from HDtracks.

If you're ever sad, just remember the world is 4.543 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie.

On the day of execution, on the day of execution
Only women kneel and smile, ah-ah, ah-ah
At the centre of it all, at the centre of it all
Your eyes, your eyes

The day he was crucified...
The women who kneel and smile are in Giotto´s The Lamentation of Christ...
At the centre is the woman who smile, dressed in a pale purple gown...
She is looking at the dead Jesus... you´re eyes are looking at the dead David Bowie...

Just a thought contemplating what he wanted to leave behind during his last months.

I noticed this album is already streaming on TIDAL, which is really cool.

had a viable career for 40 years like Mr. Bowie ! I'm kidding of course but it is truly astonishing that David Bowie was able to produce such amazing/profound/genre defining/genre re-defining/groundbreaking/bad-ass/fun! music for such a span. Yes, I know there were a few patches of less than inspired activity...but one can hardly find fault when the high points are so high. I urge all Audiostream readers to download BLACKSTAR. It's devastating and brilliant.

This should have been among my Lovely Recording selections, as this is an incredible recording, regardless of the circumstances. Late in life, most rockers are doing the greatest hit tours for fans that only want to hear the classics. Bowie was not one to sit still, ever moving forward. He did go somewhere and he was right, it isn't boring. We will never have a gift like this again.
