Bel Canto Black ACI600 Integrated Amplifier: Roon & MQA

Bel Canto has taken the tech developed in their flagship Black ASC1/ MPS1 system ($50,000) and rolled it into the one-box Roon Ready, MQA-enabled ACI600 Integrated Amplifier ($25,000). With a host of digital inputs including Ethernet (24/192K, MQA, Roon Ready), USB (24/384, DSD128(DoP), MQA), and S/PDIF (24/192), a programmable MM/MC phono section, a programmable line level input, and 600W into 4Ohm output, the ACI600 is another piece of kit that only asks two big things of its owner; speakers and music (OK, enjoyment, too).

From Bel Canto:

This new generation processor based on Bel Canto’s Advanced Asynchronous Audio Processor core platform has been in development for the past 2 years. Our A3P 64-bit processor controls the critical Asynchronous interfaces, custom FIR Filters, Tilt, EQ and Bass Management and other functions with the highest level of accuracy. The ACI 600 ULN Masterclock circuitry holds jitter below 40 Femtoseconds, ensuring pure sonic performance.

The ACI 600 digital to analog circuit is based on the implementation of our ASD (Advanced Segment DAC) design, a hybrid single bit and multi-bit technology that measures below 0.0005% distortion and 127dB of dynamic range. John Stronczer Founder and Chief designer says “ASD gives us the dynamics of multibit and the resolution of single bit, the best of both worlds.” The DAC output then goes through 2 fully balanced discrete class A analog single stage custom amplifier stages. The DAC section is connected directly into the NCORE buffer with 27amp peak output and 600 watts into a 4-ohm loads.

The ACI600 drove a pair of Verity Audio Parsifal Anniversary speakers ($24,995) in a way that made me write, "Good sound." (that's good)
