I always enjoy a stop into the Audioengine room for a refreshing bite of affordable. New to RMAF 2016 were the HD3 powered speakers ($399/pair), a step up from the still available A2+ ($249), the smaller of the two speakers in the picture.

The HD3 adds Bluetooth (aptX) to the list of inputs which include line level (RCA) and micro USB. A front panel volume control makes life easier, no need to reach around, and there's a headphone amp for more intimate moments. Available solid wood veneer finishes include Cherry, Walnut, or satin black. If you choose to mate the HD3's with a subwoofer, Audioengine have included a bass-reduction switch for some flexibility in pairing.

The HD3's will start shipping next month.
